Spectral Atlas
A programme concept for an open visual atlas in which scientific imaging and artistic interpretation are read side by side.
The concept
Scientific images are often seen only by specialists, while artists rarely have access to the instruments that produce them. The Spectral Atlas concept proposes a shared space where both kinds of seeing meet.
Each entry would pair an image produced through observation — spectra, micrographs, astronomical data — with a written or visual response by an artist, and with context from the researchers involved.
Objectives
- Make scientific imagery legible to a wider public.
- Create a structured dialogue between researchers and artists.
- Publish the atlas as an open, citable resource.
